Established a comprehensive Automatic Data Synchronization Process Mechanism by using the Trinity JCS system flexible workflow control mechanism combined with the data snapshot protection and file synchronization software function of a storage system, allowing the database of two remote locations to be quickly synchronized, eliminating the problem of poor communication of data due to time differences, and also vastly reducing the task of complex daily maintenance, allowing human resources to be used for tasks of higher value.
About the Client
The client’s company was established in 1992 and the main product was TFT-LCD. In 2006, the company officially started the “Electronic Paper Display” (EPD) business – Sony’s e-book (eBook Reader) product became commercially available in North America. The electronic paper display designed by the company was ultra-thin and the effect was as good as real paper, giving users ultimate reading pleasure. In 2007, the world’s largest online bookstore also used the client’s electronic paper display releasing their own brand of e-book reader. In the last 19 years, the company has gained a fair share of the fiercely competitive TFT-LCD market.
Production line data storage systems needed to be established in both Taiwan and the US and the data on both had to be synchronized and shared. Both systems also had to be online at all times.
File synchronization rules and conditions were very complicated, in order to prevent files from being accidently replaced due to precaution errors, the storage system’s data snapshot protection function had to be used to activate detailed file synchronization logs, and integrate them all into a comprehensive data synchronization mechanism.
Because this mechanism integrates tools such as file synchronization and storage system software, a process control system was required to control all the scheduled operations (to determine operation results in order to determine the next action) to precisely synchronize the data at the two remote locations.
After considering elements such as the functions and cost-efficiency of the related products available on the market, the Trinity JCS was found to have the most comprehensive functions. It was also very economical, easy to establish and the architecture is highly flexible, allowing it to expand with future growth. These facts made Trinity the best choice for the IT investment made in this project.
The company used Trinity JCS integrated with the storage system’s data snapshot protection function and file synchronization software functions to establish a comprehensive Automatic Data Synchronization Process Mechanism. At the same time the company started planning to add daily IT maintenance operations to Trinity JCS to create a comprehensive automated maintenance and operation process. A future goal is management of the entire data and operation processes from a single management interface.
